Welcome to Year 6 with Mrs Spillane, Mrs Compton and Mrs Perry!
All of Year 6 are looking forward to the challenges and rewards the final year at primary school brings. As a class, we support each other, work hard and produce work we are proud of while enjoying our learning.
We are guided by our Catholic faith, our mission statement and our virtues - these help us to grow in faith and love for one another. Our class vocational statement - God made you and I and called him to be a witness for Him in this world - helps us to understand our growing maturity and the importance of our faith as we move to secondary school. The example of St Lucy, our class Saint, also helps us to recognise the importance of following the light of Christ.
Over the year, we work hard to prepare for the new challenges of secondary school. As well as covering all of the core subjects' curriculum, this year we will be learning about a range of topics through our Discovery learning curriculum.
Our Autumn term question is - What are the key forces that influence us in the world?
Our Spring term question is - What can we learn from the life of Shakespeare?
Our Summer term question is - What can we learn from the Mayan civilisation?
A very important part of our curriculum is the Sacrament of Confirmation where we will receive the Holy Spirit and its fruits and gifts. These helps us to be a true witness to Christ in the world.
We hope you enjoy our class page and finding out more about all of our wonderful experiences at St Augustine's Catholic Primary School!
