Year 1

Welcome to Year 1 with Miss Saddington, Mrs Ledbrook and Mrs Sullivan!

In Year 1 we are guided by our school mission as we develop a deeper understanding of the virtues. Our class vocational statement is - 'God made me and God made everyone around the world so we are all special.' 

Saint Brigid is our class saint.

We provide an opportunity for the children in all year groups to access a broad and balanced 'Discovery Learning' curriculum. Children have an input on their learning and teachers ensure the skills and progression are in place, building upon the knowledge of previous years. Part of our curriculum will involve trips or visitors to enrich the children's learning; supporting the children to become immersed in their learning, helping them to know more and remember more.

Year One Autumn 1 PE days: Tuesday and Thursday

Year 1 Phonics

The Phonics screening check is designed to confirm whether pupils have learnt phonic decoding to an appropriate standard. The check consists of 20 real words and 20 pseudo-words, that pupils real aloud to the check administrator. It will take place in June 2025.
